Moira Maraun

 

Moira is a Registered Nurse with 40 years experience she has worked extensively in the Public and Private Health Systems in NSW, in both inpatient wards and in the community. She has worked in various physical specialties as well asMental Health Nursing across a broad spectrum of locations. Moira has worked successfully in a team environment and also independently unsupervised. Moira has been the recipient of two significant government scholarships. She was awarded a bursary to contribute to fees for postgraduate study in which she completed a Master of Health Science (2005) in “Analysing a Core Skills Curriculum for a multidisciplinary Mental Health Workforce”. She also received a full scholarship to attend an international conference to present a conference paper to discuss the evaluation of this curriculum.

Mental Health Nurse Educator to develop a Core Skills Curriculum for a Multidisciplinary Mental Health Workforce(on a continuum of novice to expert) for a large sector within a Public Area Health Service in Sydney
Clinical Nurse Consultant in Older Persons’ Mental Health Services establishing and leading new services in two majorregional locations; participating in state wide working parties
Professional Consultant for Life Coaching and Clinical Supervision to a multidisciplinary workforce at a Private Psychiatric Hospital in Sydney
Moira’s recent professional activities include:

leadership and participation in service planning and development, implementation and evaluation of innovative capacity building projects for the health workforce inclusive of the NGO sector;
clinical assessment and consultancy of people with behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia to the health workforce inclusive of the NGO sector
development, implementation and evaluation of competency based education to the adult workforce in the healthworkforce inclusive of the NGO sector;
ongoing provision of both individual and group clinical supervision and practice development inclusive of a Life Coaching model of reflection to clinicians from a multidisciplinary background, i.e., Nurses (all tiers of nursing), SocialWorkers, Psychologists and Occupational Therapists;
Distance Education Tutor for postgraduate Aged Care and Mental Health Nursing students with The College of Nursing (Australia’s peak Nursing Education body)
